Are AI agents are the new trojan horse?

An eye-opening survey by SailPoint reveals that 82% of companies are already using agentic AI—but most are flying blind when it comes to governance.

Here are some of the most striking findings:

80% of organizations report their AI agents have performed unintended actions, including accessing or sharing sensitive data.

96% of security professionals view AI agents as a growing security threat—but only 44% of companies have governance policies in place.

• Nearly 1 in 4 companies saw AI agents coerced into revealing access credentials. 🚨

The business value of AI agents is clear—but identity and access management for AI agents is lagging dangerously behind humans and robots. Unlike traditional users, AI agents often require broader privileges, faster approvals, and multiple identities—a perfect storm for risk.

🔍 Strategic takeaway: AI governance can’t be an afterthought. As organizations race to deploy more AI agents, security and identity teams must lead—before attackers do.

Curious to hear: How is your organization approaching governance for AI agents? Let’s discuss. 👇
